Q. I don't get it. What's the point of this place?
A. The idea is to provide ready made pieces for people to make logos from very very easily using Gimp or other image software. Hopefully it will encourage more fluff on FUMBBL! It will also provide guides on how to use various sites and software to use the components on here to make logos.
Q. Did you make the images?
A. A few, but most are open source images found online and collected over the last year or so. Most I have then adapted to transparent backgrounds to make them easier to use in creating logos etc.
Q. Where can I host pictures?
A. I have built in an uploader that shows up when you go to post on the forum. Just click "Add Image To Post". If you prefer you can upload it to the site that provides the uploader for the forum directly at postimage.org/ . It is free and automatically generates BBcode thumbnail links to the image.
Q. Why do they seem to be mostly .png files?
A. .png allows me to keep the transparent background. You can turn it into whatever file type you like.
Q. What image software can I get for free?
A. I use a piece of software called Gimp. It's free, and has excellent tools. You can very quickly pick up the basics, and a bit of google action will bring up numerous "how to" guides. You can find it here.
Q. Is there anywhere that shrinks file sizes of .jpg and .png files without making the image crappy?
A. Yes. Just go here for a great, simple to use site that will massively reduce file sizes.
Q. I want to put the team name or some other words on my logo, how can I make this easily?
A. If the text tool on Gimp is too basic, use Cooltext, a free site specifically for making text images on a transparent background. It's completely free and has loads of variations to choose from.
Q. I see lots of little images on the site, are they all small?
A. No. The site I host on turns them into thumnails with that weird grey backgroud. Just click the image for the proper sized version. You can then use Gimp to resize them very easily. Go to Image > Scale Image.
Q. How do I save the images to use them?
A. With most images on the site you can click the thumbnails to see the full size version. If it already shows at full size just right click and save image to your computer. If it is thumbnailed right click on the full size version and save it. Then you just have to edit it if necessary on Gimp or similar.
(more will be added as I have time to edit)
